Según un comunicado, la marcha se debe a dos decisiones que Prophet ha tomado: «perseguir otros intereses y desayunar cereales.» Su sustituto temporal es Jon Karel de The Number Twelve Looks Like You.

En Yahoo! Music han colgado un set de The Mars Volta tocando en vivo.

Nuevo super grupo en ciernes: este viene del Reino Unido y lo forman Andy Rourke (The Smiths), Peter Hook (New Order),el bajista de Primal Scream, Mani y el cantante de Haven,Gary Briggs. El grupo, bautizado como Freebass, contará con colaboradores de lujo para su primer trabajo: Ian Brown (The Stone Roses), Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Rowetta (Happy Mondays), Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) y Liam Gallagher (Oasis).
